While laying artificial grass is a reasonably straight forward process, there are a few things to consider. Some of these things may apply to you, and some may not.

• What is currently in the area you want to lay artificial grass?

If you’re not sure what site preparation you need, we can perform a free site inspection to let you know. Different areas will require different treatment prior to installation of artificial grass. Real grass will have to be removed, and existing sprinklers may need to be capped. Excess sand may need to be excavated and disposed of. Even if the area is flat, you may need sand removed to allow adequate room for cracker dust.

• Does the area where you want to lay artificial grass have edging?

Synthetic turf requires all sides of an area to have edging to contain the cracker dust. This could be a fence, house wall or garden bed.

Artificial grass looks great laid up hard against many different surfaces and materials. Garden beds that don’t have borders can be easily remedied, as we also install garden edging. Consider your options for edging your artificial grass, or ask us for advice. Personally, we love the look of bevelled top reconstituted limestone blocks as a garden edge up against artificial grass.
